That I sent Lopez my own photograph is a coincidence: this decision seemed appropriate given that she is a professor of Gender and Media Studies, Queer Studies, Porn Studies, Death Studies, Representation of gender based violence and female corpses in TV crime shows, horror and porn movies, supernatural and Fantastic Narratives, monsters and Mutants.

My only intent of reaching out to her using the exhibition context of Social Photography was to be able to open the conversation re: why her cell phone photos were on my computer. If Lopez was surprised and upset at having received a photograph from me without her consent, it is unlikely she agreed to share hundreds of cell phone photos with me over a channel used to share adult content in an art context, because she would be part of that art context.

Media theory does not usually extend to digital forensics, but you don't need to be an infosec expert to know that every exploit looks like an accident. Watergate was a piece of tape. That was half a century ago, but open doors still work the same way. The more boring a penetration attack appears to be, the more vulnerable your system security is. I would appreciate it if the gallery would be open to letting Lopez know that it is the artist's wish that she may pick a photograph from the show that she likes better,

I wanted to know if Francesca was aware that her cell phone photos had been piggybacked to the sharing permissions used to distribute an adult film, if she was aware that the film was art, and if she knew that the rights and covenants associated with the film extend to her photographs due to the extension of those permissions.

I would ask her for permission to use or modify her leaked photos for future social photography projects-- that was back when I had the assumption you'd ever let me participate in this exhibition again-- and I would let her know that I would never share or use this material without her permission

This may be asking a lot, and she will probably say no, but it will be giving her more than the person who leaked

Should it be available, I would love to give her the option of picking a photo that she likes better. If she does not want a photo, perhaps you could let her know that a donation has been made in the name of her area of concentration. I feel embarrassed and disappointed that I have taxed the galleries resources beyond that which was anticipated. I thought that if there was an issue it would just be shipped to the address on my credit card. I should have been aware that this was not a normal ecommerce situation.

the context of Social Photography would extend competency of recognition to a person who has that competence when it comes to addressing the larger social impact that results from the use of women's personal data after they no longer control it.

I interacted with Francesca Lopez over an art institution's online interface because Lopez' cell phone photos were synced to adult content on my computer using sharing permissions linked to an art institutional context. I felt concerned. I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt,

Through presenting primarily group exhibitions, Carriage Trade functions not as a means to promote the careers of individual artists, but to provide contexts for their work that reveal its relevance to larger social and political conditions prevalent today.

A project of the artist/curator Peter Scott, whose exhibitions have attempted to highlight this relevance over the value of any given artist’s work within the hierarchy of the art market, the shows tend to combine well known with lesser known artists, and historical pieces (70’s, 80’s, 90’s) with very recent work.
